A Diatonic Wooden C-Flute with Baroque Fingering

The Choroi Octa Diatonic C-Flute is a handcrafted maple wooden flute with Baroque fingering, available in 440 Hz or 432 Hz tuning, for players ready to move beyond simple diatonic melodies into chromatic notes through cross-fingerings. Made in Sweden from solid maple and finished with child-safe linseed oil, this no-toneblock Choroi flute offers the brand’s warm, mild tone while giving older children, teens, and adults greater musical flexibility for ensemble playing, classical repertoire, and advancing technique.

Although the flute is diatonic in construction, Baroque fingering allows players to access sharps and flats through established cross-fingerings and breath control. This makes it a thoughtful choice for students and musicians who are ready for a wider musical range while still wanting the natural breath, soft tone, and simple beauty of a wooden Choroi flute.

Choosing the Right Fingering -- Please Read Before Ordering

This flute is available in multiple fingering systems. Each supports a different musical approach:

  • Baroque Fingering — a standardized system that allows access to chromatic notes across two octaves through cross-finger techniques
  • Choroi Fingering — Choroi’s refined diatonic system, developed to improve tone balance and intonation in Waldorf music education
  • German Fingering — a simplified fingering system often chosen for its familiar feel in early diatonic playing

👉 Please double-check the fingering system before purchasing.
If you are unsure which fingering is appropriate, we recommend confirming with your music instructor before ordering.

Important Return Note

Because wooden wind instruments are not sealed and cannot be hygienically sanitized without damaging the wood, all wooden wind instruments are final sale once sold. This policy helps preserve the integrity of each instrument and supports the health and safety of our customers.

Baroque Fingering -- Expanded Musical Possibilities

Baroque Fingering is widely used in recorder and flute pedagogy and is familiar to many music instructors. While the flute itself is diatonic in construction, this fingering system allows players to access sharps and flats across two octaves using cross-fingerings and breath control.

This makes it a thoughtful choice for:

  • Classical and early music repertoire
  • Ensemble playing that requires accidentals
  • Students progressing beyond purely diatonic material
  • Musicians seeking expressive nuance and technical growth

No Toneblock -- Natural Breath & Ensemble-Friendly Tone

Like all Choroi flutes, this model features a no-toneblock design, allowing breath to flow freely through the instrument.

  • Encourages relaxed, natural breathing
  • Responds clearly to controlled airflow
  • Produces a mild, blended tone ideal for group settings

The maple wood resonates warmly and develops greater depth and character with proper care.

Available Tunings

  • 440 Hz – Standard orchestral tuning
  • 432 Hz – A gentler tuning preferred by some musicians for its calming resonance

Not sure which tuning fits your needs?
Read our guide: Which Flute Should I Get — 440 Hz or 432 Hz?

Caring for a Wooden Flute

Regular care helps preserve the wood, resonance, and tonal warmth of a wooden flute, especially during the first year of use. Oil the flute 1–2 times per month using Choroi flute oil or organic jojoba oil; oils made for metal flutes may damage wooden instruments.

At checkout, you may choose the flute alone or select a bundle that includes a small bottle of Choroi flute oil.

Care guidelines:

  • Oil with a soft cotton cloth using Choroi flute oil or organic jojoba oil
  • Swab the inside with the included leather swab after each use to remove moisture
  • Store in the included cotton bag, away from heat and extreme dryness

With thoughtful care, a wooden flute can deepen in tone and beauty over time.

Who This Flute Is Best For

The Baroque Fingering Octa Diatonic C-Flute is well suited for:

  • Older children ready to explore chromatic notes
  • Teens and adults beginning or returning to flute playing
  • Waldorf students advancing beyond purely diatonic repertoire
  • Musicians seeking a wooden flute with classical-style fingering

Epson SureColor F170 Dye-Sublimation Printer. Includes Full Set of Ink
I recently invested in the Epson SureColor F170 Dye-Sublimation Printer, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. This printer is designed specifically for dye-sublimation printing, offering vibrant, high-quality prints with incredible color accuracy and sharp details. The setup was straightforward, and the included full set of ink made it easy to start printing immediately without any extra purchases. The inks produce bright, durable prints that work wonderfully on a variety of sublimation-compatible materials like fabric, ceramics, and metal. What I appreciate most is the compact design of the F170 — it fits comfortably on my workspace without taking up too much room. The printer operates quietly and efficiently, making it ideal for both small business and hobbyist use. Print speeds are impressive for the quality delivered, and the Epson software integration helps streamline the printing process. Whether you’re creating custom apparel, personalized gifts, or promotional products, this printer provides consistent, professional-grade results. Overall, the Epson SureColor F170 is a reliable, user-friendly dye-sublimation printer that’s perfect for anyone looking to get into sublimation printing or upgrade their current setup. Highly recommended! Wish was borderless printing

I would not recommend if you can afford something more expensive
So far the sublimated color is not true: (example) the pretty pink comes out as orange on both polyester fabric and wooden coaster using the only three setting on the printer: paper, photo glossy, photo matt. There is no “presentation” setting for the excellent color I had on the Epson ET-2800 (which I would NOT recommend for durability nor Epson’s customer service!). I purchased Epson, again, ONLY because I could not afford other sublimation printers and this one had the best reviews of what I could find. But Epson has its customers held hostage by way of the ink. IF YOU USE ANY BRAND SUBLIMATION INK OTHER THAN EPSON, THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. And Epson ink is EXPENSIVE (“average” is ~ $0.55/print based on 200 pages/bottle) when compared to the brand offered on Amazon as a substitute. So I’d recommend buying the Assurion coverage if you plan to use sublimation ink other than Epson. That is the ONLY thing that saved me when the ET-2800 went Caput (twice!). (The last time it was trashed, so Assurion refunded the original purchase price—within the mfr warranty time which Epson refused to honor.)

Get’s the job done.
It works good. It didn't come with a cord or clear instructions on how to use it. I used my cord from my printer to get it started. I would have sent it back but you can't once you add ink.

Works great as advertised
Style: Printer & Inks, Style: Printer & Inks
Working great so far! Enjoying starting doing sublimation work. A rookie a few weeks in and it's going well. Print quality is decent. Not having paper jam issues. Was easy to setup. I had to goto Epson and download a current print driver to get all the print properties and printer settings I needed. Was easy. After I installed the 2nd driver and saw it worked better, then I uninstalled the 1st epson driver. Helped allow for 8.5 x 14 page size and high quality. Just a few options needed that were not showing on the original print driver. Took me a few days to figure out what was going on. It helped with the quality of the prints after I got the better driver. So the end product is better also.

Prints great, wifi was an issue
Style: Printer & Inks
Got the printer a week ago and have printed something every day so far and the quality of the prints have been fantastic. Arrived and set up without any major issues, other than not being able to connect to my local wifi. Had to get an Ethernet cable to connect to it.
